Wallcovering Removal

Wallcovering removal

What to expect and not.

Wallcovering removal is one of the toughest jobs to estimate and to do because of the unforeseen and unknown conditions of it.

We do not know how it was installed, who did it, what products they used to seal the wall behind it, will it remove easily without damaging the wall.
Without knowing all of that we don't know how much prep will be needed after removal or even how long it will take to remove it so for that very reason we do all of our wallpaper removals on a time and material basis only.

What that means is you are paying for each worker per hour at the rate we charge plus materials and 20% added to materials for handling. This has been a very effective way to do these projects and has worked out great for our clients.

Your other option is to paint over the wallcovering. That process typically is to prime over the wallcovering with an oil based primer, make sure the seams are flush and then paint over it.
This usually will look great but it should be known if your wallcovering is textured in anyway you may see it, remember you are painting on top of it so you are sacrificing a completely smooth wall against the costs of removing it, patching the wall and in some cases fully ski, coating walls multiple times.

Here is a video of this process.
